The special event of the 9th Expo Central China-Dialogue between Mayors and MNCs in 2015 was held in Wuhan on May 19, 2015. This Dialogue was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Commerce and the people’s government of Hubei province, organized by the Investment Promotion Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce, the Department of Commerce of Hubei province, the people’s government of Wuhan and the China’s Center for Information Industry Development. The Dialogue between Mayors and MNCs, as the special event of the Expo Central China, has been held six times since 2008. Under the concern and support of the leaders of the Ministry of Commerce and the leaders of six provinces in the central China, the Dialogue closely follows the trend of the development, designs the common concerned topics of cities and MNCs, and invites famous experts and scholars, leaders of cities and senior executives of MNCs and chambers of commerce and associations to carry out dialogues and exchanges. The quality and the level of the conference are constantly improved, becoming increasingly practical, professional and international. This Dialogue has developed from focusing on the cities in the central China and MNCs and chambers of commerce and associations at the beginning of the foundation to winning the positive participation of other provinces,cities and leading enterprises in China.
The theme of this Dialogue is “New Opportunity: Industrie 4.0 and Made in China 2025”, focusing on the intelligent manufacturing. This topic is in the context that German releases the Industrie 4.0 strategy and China will publish the Made in China 2025 with strong practical significance.
The Director of the Investment Promotion Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce Liu Dianxun, the Deputy Secretary General of the people’s government of Hubei province Nie Changbin, the Deputy Mayor of the people’s government of Wuhan Shao Weimin attended and addressed the conference. The Vice-President of China’s Center for Information Industry Development Wang Peng and the President of Greater China for Roland Berger Wu Qi carried on the professional interpretation for the plan of Made in China 2025, the development situation and the trend of international intelligent manufacturing respectively.
In the dialogue between mayors and MNCs session, the Deputy-Mayor of Wuhan Shao Weimin, the Deputy-Mayor of Changzhou Fang Guoqiang, the Global Vice-President of GE Liu Fengming, the Global Vice-President of HP, the Vice-President for ABB’s China Li Gang, the Vice-President for COMAU’s China He Wanmin and the Chief Representative of the Investment Promotion Department of North Rhine-Westphalia based in Beijing Office Feng Xingliang jointly carried out the deep, multi-angle and open discussions on the topic of promoting the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry of cities with intelligent manufacturing, and put forward the valuable suggestions for the transformation and upgrading of the Chinese manufacturing industry and the rapid development. The President of Greater China for Roland Berger Wu Qi functioned as the honored guest and the host of the dialogue session.
Huang Xiaojun, the Vice-President of Greater China for Veolia Environment which is the rotating presidency of the Joint Committee between Chinese Mayors and Entrepreneurs of MNCs, presided over this Dialogue and introduced the relevant working condition of the Joint Committee.
According to the statistics, more than 30 cities at home and abroad, more than 70 MNCs, chambers of commerce and associations and organizations located in China all sent representatives to participate in this Dialogue, among which 30 were leaders of cities beyond the Vice Mayor level, 40 were senior executives of MNCs beyond the Vice Presidential level. The total participants were near 350.
