A Sheffield steelworks looks set for council permission next week to press ahead with redevelopment plans that would generate around 60 jobs.
Town Hall officers said that the proposed construction of a hydraulic steel forging press at Firth Rixson in Meadowhall Road, near the Tinsley Viaduct, represents a significant investment.
As well as the estimated 60 extra jobs, there will be potential additional shifts and knock-on benefits for businesses that supply Firth Rixson.
Councillors will be recommended on Monday to grant planning permission for the press, operating 24 hours a day, on a staff car park. The scheme also includes a replacement car park and a pump room to power the machines in the forge.
The council is suggesting eye catching signage to light up the building at night. The site has a prominent location and is highly visible from surrounding roads, the railway and the Supertram route.
Talks are also being held about a financial contribution towards a proposed iconic piece of public art to replace the landmark Tinsley cooling towers, which were demolished four years ago on the opposite side of the motorway.
