Turkish Steel Exporters Association (CIB) chairman Nam?k Ekinci has commented on the final countervailing duty (CVD) and antidumping (AD) duty decisions of the US Department of Commerce (US DOC) on rebar imports from Turkey. Remarking that the US DOC has calculated a zero percent dumping margin for Turkish companies, he stated, "We stood up for Turkish rebar producers and affirmed on every platfrom that they were not practising dumping. The US DOC's decision vindicates us. During the investigation, our only hope was to have a fair hearing, because we already knew that we would be vindicated and not face any duty margin in the event of a fair hearing. This decision will set an example to other countries that want to initiate an investigation against ex-Turkey rebar imports," Mr. Ekinci stated.
Also commenting on the US DOC's countervailing duty decision on rebar imports from Turkey, the CIB chairman continued by saying, "The 1.25 percent subsidy rate calculated for Turkish producers reflects the political pressure exerted on the US DOC by 150 congressmen. We are upset about the CVD decision even though the margin is low, because we know that we did not receive any subsidy. Our experts are working on the subsidy rate. We will appeal as soon as the study is completed. We are planning to appeal at the public hearing of the US International Trade Commission (US ITC) public hearing on September 15."
