New Rules on Excessive Packaging in Shanghai Are Expected to Implement From February 2013

Chinese city Shanghai is all set to implement new rules on excessive packaging of products.

As per the recently approved rules, which are expected to come into force from February 2013, it is mandatory for the manufacturers producing products with excessive packaging, to resolve the situation within a specified time, chinadaily.com.cn reported.

Reports said about one-third of daily waste in cities in China are packaging products, which results in creation of huge waste.

China Youth Daily's social survey center has released a new survey, which revealed that about 97.5% of respondents said shoppers face major issues with unnecessary packaging, and 83% said it causes damage to the environment.
