Russia Has Identified Bacteria in Poultry Meat Imported From Ukraine

The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance in Russia has identified bacteria in poultry meat imported from Ukraine.

The agency has reported that Listeria was found in the batch of poultry, which was produced by Dniprovsky poultry farm, reported En.for-ua.com.

Coliform bacteria was also found in poultry produced by Danish-based DanePork, while mesophilic aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria and coliform bacteria were found in pork from Viandes Décarie, a Canada-based firm.

Consumption of food contaminated with bacteria can lead to a serious or life-threatening food borne illness. Symptoms of infection may include fever, muscle aches, gastro intestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea.
