On September 16, 2015, a violent magnitude 8.4 earthquake hit the fourth region in North Chile, affecting most regions of the country. The strong earthquake caused large casualties and financial loss to the people of Chile. In order to express the condolence and supports of the Chinese government and people to the Chile government and people, the Chinese government decided to provide the Chile government with the emergency humanitarian assistance of US$ 300 thousand in cash, in order to help Chile with the disaster relief work.
The Chinese government will, according to the requirements of Chile and changes of the disaster, continue to provide help within its ability, to support the people of Dominica to rebuild their home.
