The Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Committee (ECC) will hold its seventh regular meeting on January 29 in Taipei, according to an agreement between the mainland’s Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) and Taiwan’s Strait Exchange Foundation.
Zheng Lizhong, convener of the ECC on the mainland and executive vice president of ARATS, and Gao Yan, chief representative and vice commerce minister, will head the mainland delegation to attend the meeting.
At this regular meeting, participants will review the implementation of the economic cooperation framework agreement since it came into force, including the implementation of the early harvest program of the framework agreement, progress of six working groups of trade in goods, trade in service, investment, settlement of disputes, industrial cooperation and customs cooperation, and the mutual organization of economic and trade associations. They will also discuss the negotiation progress of follow-up agreements. Meanwhile, they will exchange views on further expanding and deepening cross-strait economic cooperation, the economic development trend of their selves and economic policies, and make arrangements for future stage work.
