On Dec 06,2012, International Electrical Committee(IEC) is formally published safety standard IEC 62133 Edition 2.0 for portable secondary battery. IEC 62133 Edition 1.0 published on 2002 will be replaced step by step.
The following revised of Edition 2.0 is compared with Edition 1.0:
Clause 5.6 Revise Assembly of Cells into Batteries and add Design Recommendation for Lithium Systems Only.
Clause 6 Distinguish test requirements of Lithium Systems and Nickel Systems.
Clause 8 The following revision of test Requirements of
Lithium Systems: Add charge procedure under upper limit and lower limit of charging temperature (Sub-clause 8.1.2);
Add Transport Tests (Sub-clause 8.3.8),Forced Internal Short Test(Sub-clause 8.3.9) and Over-charging of batteries(Sub-clause 8.3.6); Vibration, Mechanical Shock and Low pressure test merge into Transport Tests(Sub-clause 8.3.8);
Modify Continuous Charging Test at Constant Voltage(Sub-clause 8.2.1),External Short Circuit Test of Batteries((Sub-clause 8.3.2), Thermal Abuse Test((Sub-clause 8.3.4), Crush Test ((Sub-clause 8.3.5);
Delete Over-charging of cells
Please inform manufacturer the design of batteries should be considered according to standard IEC 62133 Edition 2.0 in order to avoid
