The first images of the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06 have leaked online hours ahead of its official unveiling at the Detroit auto show, revealing interior and exterior styling of the most performance focused variant yet.
Based on the all-new seventh-generation Chevrolet Corvette unveiled at last year’s Detroit show, the Z06 is the most aggressive Corvette model, sitting above the 343kW/630Nm Z51 and standard 339kW/624Nm Stingray.
The images – first leaked by Left Lane News – show a bright yellow Z06 wearing track focused body work including a new front lip spoiler, front wheel arch extensions, deep side skirts and a rear spoiler.
A new-look ventilated front grille and black bonnet bulge also join new air vents positioned in front of the rear wheels and larger black alloys tucked under what appear to be wider front and rear guards.
A shoe-in to feature the recently revealed and motorsport-inspired Performance Data Recorder, the Z06’s interior features a flat-bottom steering wheel and what looks to be gripper seat material.
Previously referred to by Chevrolet as the “most track-capable Corvette ever”, outputs are expected to be around 462kW and 880Nm, though the muscle car’s engine is still yet to be confirmed. Sure to better its predecessor’s 3.7sec 0-100km/h, speculation suggests the use of either a supercharged or twin-turbocharged V8 powerplant.
Anticipated to start production in late 2014, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will be revealed in full at tomorrow’s Detroit auto show.
