Firstly, get all your plumbings repaired if they have a leakage problem. Have the space in and around the bathtub emptied. Take off all the items like toiletries, towels, etc. placed outside the cabinets. Open the windows (if any) and ensure that the bathroom is well ventilated. Take a ventilating system on rent if required. Whichever trim plumbing that is very close to the bathtub must be removed. Also clear the caulking and grout used for bathtub borders.

Now buy an industrial bathtub cleaner and 120 grit sand which is easily available in the market. Rinse the bathtub with the cleaner and sand. This will help you do the best bathtub cleaning procedure. Dry the tub and proceed. Now wash the bathtub with hydrofluoric acid and leave it as it is for about 15 to 20 minutes. Clean the bathtub with cold water and again wash it with the same sand. Once again rinse with cold water and dry thoroughly to ensure that no moisture is left.

Dry the borders using a vacuum. Using a body filler just fill up the bottom of the tub and ledges. Do this carefully so that it looks neat and tidy as the body filler is difficult to sand off after drying. Now sand the body filler to make it smooth. Using masking tape and plastic sheets or painters drop sheets just cover the entire area surrounding the tub. Buy epoxy product and prime the entire tub surface and leave it for drying. Buy the tub glaze available in the market and start applying it with a cloth. Make sure you read the manufacturers instructions before applying the glaze. Let the glaze dry for at least 24 hours.

Your bathtub refinishing is done. Apply the caulk and grout to the tub's borders again and re-fix the fixtures like drain and overflow. Do the bathtub drain installation and clean the surrounding area. You can start using your new looking bathtub after 2 days.
