New Hue LED Light Bulb System Are Rainbow Bright

For a pack of light bulbs, $200 is a lot of money.

The new Hue LED light bulb system from Philips allows for a rainbow of color to expel from any lamp and is perfect for those interested in funky, high-tech gadgets.

Philips says the bulbs can provide 16 million different colors and it is possible to customize the lighting in each corner of any room in a home.

The product is only available through Apple and the Hue app lets you control up to 50 bulbs – it is even possible to light an entire home with them.

Consumer Reports checked out the system and found that the bulbs really are customizable to light up in any color you want.

You can make color changes on your computer, phone or tablet with the app and can even set the time you want the Hue to go on or off.

The system comes with three LED light bulbs, each equivalent to a 50-watt bulb, and a device that attaches to a wireless router.

Testers also looked at brightness and color accuracy.

"We found that when the light was whiter, it was bright but the color wasn't very good. When the light was a warmer color and the accuracy was better, it wasn't quite as bright,” said Celia Lehrman of Consumer Reports.

Ultimately, it depends on your needs.

Additional bulbs cost $59 dollars each.
