JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, has posted a 45 percent year-on-year increase in crude steel production for December last year, with a total of 1.05 million mt.
According to the company's statement, in December JSW Steel produced 870,000 mt of flat rolled products, up 42 percent, while its long rolled product output amounted to 150,000 mt, decreasing by one percent, both compared to the same month of the previous year.
During the October-December quarter of 2013, JSW Steel produced 3.2 million mt of crude steel, up 52 percent year on year. In the given period, the company's flat rolled product output increased by 64 percent to 2.57 million mt, while its long rolled product output decreased by nine percent to 440,000 mt, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
