If you would have visited the courtyard of Brussels during the midnight art festival Nuit Blanche on October 1st of 2011, there is a good chance you would have found a surprising illuminated formation. In what gave the common passerby on their midnight stroll a reason to go take a closer look, this otherworldly light installation clearly illuminated all of the dim life around it.

Created by the Swiss artist Sophie Guyot, the Blue Cocoons light / art installation consisted of 45 bright sky blue cluster cocoons with added sounds and murmurs. When approaching the installation you may have heard sounds of mandibles (insects), onomatopoeia (repeating sounds), and indistinct murmurs that may have made it seem as if these cocoons were actually alive.
