The new Johnson County Sheriff's Office Criminalistics Laboratory (JCCL), located in Olathe, KS, has installed Lusio SSL fixtures for energy savings and reduced maintenance costs.
Completed this spring, the new 62,500 sq ft facility is expected to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, the highest rating a building can achieve under the Council's LEED rating system. LEED certification is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high performance sustainable buildings.
"A crime lab requires very specialized lighting," said Allen Hamm, assistant director of the JCCL. "The Lusio LED fixtures deliver high footcandles and wide distributions to effectively cover large work spaces."
Engineered to Meet Diverse Needs
Lusio® Solid-State Lighting fixtures are engineered to meet the lighting requirements of virtually any commercial or industrial space while fully integrating with corporate energy efficiency goals. Cool operating, low maintenance, and controllable, Lusio fixtures are comprised of two distinct families:
Pro-Optics™ Series LED fixtures meet complex lighting requirements particularly where glare control is a critical factor. Available in 5 light distributions, the Pro-Optics series is listed for dry/damp and wet locations (IP65). Essentials™ Bay Series includes 5 models of high lumen output fixtures, economically designed for cost-conscious applications. These fixtures deliver high lumens per dollar and high efficacy, providing fast paybacks when compared to T5HO and HID fixtures.
Lusio stands behind all its fixtures with a 7-year warranty.
The new state-of-the-art, two-story JCCL building features 9 laboratories and is approximately 4 times the size of the previous crime lab, which operated in Mission, KS since 1974.
"Lusio also delivers substantial energy savings and reduced maintenance costs, which played an integral role in the design of the new facility," said Hamm.
