The FLARE modular system was designed to create a dynamic exterior framework for buildings or wall surfaces. FLARE was designed to act like a living skin that allows buildings to show a type of emotional building animation through moving exterior parts.

This moving system is made of a number of tiltable metal flake bodies and individually controllable pneumatic cylinders. These modified programmed patterns offer an infinite array of "flakes" that can be mounted on any building or wall surface.

The tilted computer controlled "flakes" are programmed to position themselves in such a way to shade the building's exterior from excess sunlight and heat. By creating an adjustable and customizable building armor the building's interior temperatures and lighting are not only more controllable but help to create a more energy efficient building system. Watch the video below to see the FLARE is action.
