Here Are Six Top Tips to Help You Choose Your New Bedroom Furniture

Buying bedroom furniture isn't easy.

Obviously, you want something stylish and attractive.  It needs to look great in your bedroom.  However, it also needs to be practical and sturdy so it lasts a long time.  And, you don’t want to pay the earth.

Here are six top tips to help you choose your new bedroom furniture.

Make sure it matches
Whatever sort of look you are trying to create in your bedroom, make sure that you buy bedroom furniture that matches.  Pick the same wood type for bedside chests, drawers, wardrobes and bed frames.

Make sure your bedroom furniture also matches any other wood, skirting boards or windows in the room.

Don't overdo it
Bedrooms are a place where you can chill out and relax.  You will never be able to do this in a cluttered room and so it is crucial that you don't overdo your bedroom furniture.

Designers suggest that you stick to a bed and some clothes storage solutions.  Whilst a dressing table, chaise longue or linen box might look appealing, you shouldn't cram as much bedroom furniture in as you can.

Buy the biggest bed you can
If you and your partner share a standard double bed, you each have less space than a baby has in their cot.  You toss and turn on average between 60 and 70 times a night and studies have shown that the more space you have, the better a night's sleep you will enjoy.

Clearly, you will be constrained by the space you have available in your bedroom and you don't want to squeeze a giant bed into a tiny space.  So, buy the biggest bed that your budget and room size allow.

Use space wisely
There are plenty of bedroom furniture options that let you maximise the space you have available.
For example, a wardrobe with sliding doors can be tucked into a tight space as you don't need additional room to open the doors.  Other wardrobes have shelving, drawers and hanging rails included to really maximise your clothes storage.

And, consider the storage area under your bed.  A divan bed often has drawers in which you can store clothes or bedding, and if you choose a bed frame you can buy storage units that slide underneath the bed.

Go tall
If you have limited space in your bedroom, consider buying taller furniture.  Chests of drawers come in various shapes and sizes and so a thinner, taller chest might offer a better solution than a shorter, wider unit.

Wardrobes also come in various heights – but make sure your chosen wardrobe fits in the space you have available.

Consider a modular solution
Modular bedroom furniture allows you to create a storage system designed specifically for your bedroom.  With modular furniture you pick what combination of wardrobe, shelves, drawers, doors, handles and end panels you want to combine.

It is a flexible and versatile way of ensuring that you get the exact bedroom furniture you need.
