Very few countries celebrate light like Thailand, almost like an artistic compulsion, Thailand's Hat Yai's Lantern Festival explores traditional and non-traditional items with light, color, and shape. Attracting over 1-million people annually this light festival isn't just beautiful, but also rich in heritage and history.

Sure to be one of the longest festivals, the entire event spans over four months. This year's event took place along the lake in Hat Yai Park from January 1 to April 30, 2013.

Festival activities include:

Many types of lanterns decorated and illuminated at night. Hat Yai Ice Dome, enjoy the lanterns in a minus 30 degrees Celsius environment. Soon to come, cable car ride and planetarium.
