The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 is confirmed for Australia, with the limited run model reaching our shores in August.
A ‘Black Series lite’, the C63 AMG Edition 507 (above) is expected to cost around $180,000 – or $65K less than the Black Series – and gets 373kW of power and 610Nm of torque. That’s also 15kW/10Nm more than a C63 AMG Performance Pack.
Although currently tagged as a limited-run model, the C63 AMG Edition 507 is all but confirmed to eventually replace the Performance Pack in the range, widening the pricing and power gap between the standard C63 AMG and the C63 AMG Edition 507. Mercedes-Benz AMG claims a 4.2 second 0-100km/h.
It’s shaping up to be a big year for Mercedes-Benz AMG, with the launch of the C63 AMG Edition 507 coming after the Australian debut of the SLS AMG Black Series in March, and the A45 AMG (above) and CLA45 AMG (below) near-twins mid-year.
In Australia and New Zealand combined, Mercedes-Benz AMG sales account for the highest portion of overall Benz sales anywhere in the world – with 8 per cent of total sales AMG in kiwi-land, and 7.8 per cent in Oz.
Mercedes-Benz Australia has set its targets higher, however, expecting to notch up “something starting with a two [thousand]” total sales in 2013, particularly once the A45 AMG and CLA45 AMG come on stream later this year.
Benz is aiming to price the 245kW ‘baby’ AMG at around $75,000-$80,000 to directly compete with the BMW M135i. It says it already has 25 firm deposits for the car, and expects demand to outstrip supply. The CLA45 AMG sedan is expected to follow suit.
The SLS AMG Black Series (below), meanwhile, will become the most expensive car Mercedes-Benz offers in Australia, expected to cost upwards of $500,000.
