When it comes to really finishing off a newly decorated room, wallpaper and furniture might do the hard work, but the little details really make it shine.Think of it like a pocket square to finish off a suit or a brooch to get your outfit just-so ahead of a meeting-paying attention to the details can really make your interior sing.
"I think people stop decorating too soon,"says interior design expert Abigail Ahern."By that I mean when I walk into any room I don't want to clock it in an instant.I want my eye to be a little bedazzled,a little confused, but also excited and stimulated all at the same time."
And according to interior and product designer Matteo Bianchi, that's especially true in the bathroom.Matteo-director of Matteo Bianchi Studios,a member of the British Institute of Interior Design-noted that people failing to pay enough attention to the finer details of bathroom design,or not introducing enough of them, are letting the rest of interior design hard work down.
"I believe people, when thinking about a re-design of their bathroom, are most concerned with updating it:making it fresh and more contemporary,"he says.
"I think people do think about attention to details. It's a very personal space but it can help to have an interior designer to help to expand[your]ideas and explore what is on the market.
"As an example, you may buy very refined, stunning tiles, but not consider the colour and finish of the grout which will make or break the space. It's all about attention to detail."
And as the expert notes,it's good to think of the long-term,too."Often people won't change the bathroom fittings for ten to 15 years,by which time sanitary ware and finishes can look very dated and worn,"he said.
Lighting is one of those key details that can make or break your finished bathroom, and clunky light fittings can attract dust and moisture if left too long.
Instead, bathroom ceiling spotlights offer clean lines and smooth illumination, and add the finishing sparkle to any space.
