Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics has introduced new Aptio Automation solution to accommodate both current and future needs of medium- to very high-volume laboratories, at the AACC and ASCLS Annual Meetings and Clinical Lab Expo in Los Angeles, California US, held between 15-19 July 2012.
Aptio Automation is an adaptable solution which features point-in-space aspiration that streamlines workflow by reducing the need to aliquot (or divide) samples, and a puck-based system with RFID enables individual sample routing and tracking, along with STAT prioritization.
Aptio Automation combines the Siemens' workflow expertise with peak performance, adaptability and intelligent technology to transform laboratory operations.
The solution offers connectivity to Siemens' portfolio of automation-ready analyzers, thus facilitating a multidisciplinary approach to testing.
Aptio Automation also delivers comprehensive analytics via powerful, centralized information technology, while having the flexibility to provide pre- and post-analytical capabilities.
NHS Tayside diagnostics joint clinical director William Bartlett said the company has chosen Aptio Automation because it can handle increasing workloads while enabling to use its staff better.
"We expect that the implementation of this new platform will allow us to provide a state-of-the-art service that aligns the lab function with Tayside's overall goals for organizational sustainability and improved patient outcomes," Bartlett added.
