Mettler Toledo Has Introduced Inspirex R40lf-800

UK-based Mettler Toledo has introduced InspireX R40LF-800, a high-speed X-ray system which identifies foreign objects and detects shape defects in processed formed foods.

According to the company, the new system has been developed to automate evaluation of loose foods such as hamburger patties, chicken nuggets and bakery products.

It can identify foreign objects such as glass, metal and bone and can also evaluate properties such as roundness of a hamburger or indentations.

The system's x-ray technology scans the product and compares with the ideal food product image. It has the ability to scan up to six product lanes at once. If a defective product is identified, air nozzles at the conveyer belts push the food products into the reject bin.

These products can be evaluated for shape irregularities and can be reworked. According to the company, this can save cost and minimize waste. The machine also discards contaminated products.

Mettler Toledo marketing manager Daniela Verhaeg said the InspireX R40LF-800 System is an enabling technology for the growing convenience food market, ensuring quality inspection at high speeds.
