The iPhone 6 from Apple may include new touch-screen technology,reports suggest.
According to The China Times,which claims to have spoken to sources inside Apple's supply chain,Apple intends to switch to alternative touch technology for its next generation of mobile phones,stating that a"Touch On Display"panel is being developed by Taiwanese Apple supplier Innolux.
"Due to interference problems to the built-in touch panel and the frequent Apple iPhone 5 touch sensitivity issues,Apple intends to switch to another technology in the next generation of mobile phones,"The China Times said.
The"Touch On Display"panel will have a thickness of only 0.5mm,the report said,and has better sensitivity than previous iPhones with a"10 point full featured multi-touch"function.
Reports suggest that the iPhone 5's"in cell touch technology",which combines the touch screen and LCD display into one,has suffered manufacturing problems that have led to a supply shortage.It is suggested that Apple will move back to"on cell technology"that it used for all its previous iPhone models.
Another issue that iPhone 5 users may have faced is recognition of rapid diagonal swipes,with several reports suggesting that the problem is there but unlikely to affect most users as it would only be necessary for certain apps such as Fruit Ninja and Infinity Blade.
It is still unknown whether Apple will name its next device iPhone 5S or iPhone 6.
