German supercar manufacturer Gumpert has secured a new investor, shoring up its medium-term future and guaranteeing the introduction of all-new models.
Gumpert owner, founder and managing director Roland Gumpert confirmed the fresh investment at the Geneva motor show. The injection promises to breathe new life into the until-recently cash-strapped sports car marque.
“Our distribution and dealer networks are being expanded worldwide and sister models will soon be added to the Apollo,” Gumpert said.
“What’s more, we’ll already be presenting the first of these models this year at a major trade fair.”
The Gumpert Tornante is rumoured to be the first new model slated for showrooms. The striking coupe was unveiled two years ago at the 2011 Geneva motor show with a 522kW 4.2-litre twin-turbo V8, but is still yet to reach the production line.
Gumpert was forced to apply for provisional insolvency in August 2012 after running out of funds, but resumed production in November following a raft of orders for new Apollo supercars.
Two Gumpert Apollo S supercars – one red and one black – are currently on display at the motor show in Geneva.
