A short note on Nickel
Nickel is a transition metal or metallic chemical element, have been using in alloys for thousands of years by ancient peoples, although they may not have been aware of the precise properties of this metal. In its purest form, it is found in silvery gray and can be polished to a bright shine accordingly. Relatively hard and strong in nature, metal is very ductile and ferromagnetic. It is widely used in alloy such as for stainless steel because of its corrosion resistant and strong properties. Although generally the metal is not toxic but still does carry some cautions as some people experience contact dermatitis when exposed to nickel and thus making it a poor choice for jewelry alloys. In addition, nickel was once widely used for making coins, but has been quickly replaced by the cheaper iron, especially since the metal is a skin allergen for some people.
Apart from all the this, nickel materials has made a significant contributions to present day society, no matter what of its form is using, whether in the form of element or alloy with other metals. Having good corrosion and heating resistant properties, these alloys are widely used in different applications including nuclear power system, aircraft gas turbines, petrochemical industries and chemical processes. Also they are used in control equipments to control and determine the electrical characteristics.

? Alloy 600 (a nickel- chromium- iron alloy, offers excellent mechanical properties, corrosion resistant and high strength, typically used in steam generators, furnace retort seals, chemical and food processing industries).
? Alloy 601 (a nickel- chromium alloy, offer better oxidation resistant, and possesses high temperature strength, widely used in industrial furnaces, thermocouple protection tubes and electronic components).
? Alloy 617 (offer good ductility and exceptional strength, used in petrochemical processing, heat treating equipments, and other applications where high temperature resistant is important).
? Alloy 602CA (a nickel based alloy, resistant to oxidation at high temperature, used for industrial engineering and furnace construction).
? Alloy DS (a nickel- chromium- iron based alloy, possesses good oxidation and corrosion resistant and used for vitreous enameling equipments and heat treatment procedures).
? Alloy C276 (maintains high strength, and resistant to wet chloride gas, chlorine dioxide solutions, widely used in heat exchangers, reaction vessels and sulfuric acid reactors).
