Listing your home as energy efficient may mean that you may need to say goodbye to those energy draining incandescent light bulbs.

A recent NY Times article entitled ‘What’s Best, LED or Incandescent Lights?’ questions whether or not replacing those incandescents with LEDs is the best selling option. And although this may seem like a great idea there are some questions to ask yourself before completing an entire home LED retrofit.
Is it within your seller’s budget? Will the LED light fixtures appeal to everyone? What are your other options?

LEDs are a great replacements for many old fixtures, and the energy savings you will quickly see reflected on your electric bill may just make you to a smile. But as to whether or not your potential buyers will appreciate this is unknown.
Also consider your “makeover budget” this will help you determine whether this is feasible. If you cannot afford to replace all of your fixtures with LEDs, consider replacing your most energy draining light fixtures with LEDs and choose CFLs or other fluorescent type light bulbs and fixtures to encompass the rest.
