Minimalism is Yoko Ono stood in a white room being artistic;it's chrome handles on pale wooden cupboards;it's men in frameless glasses wearing polo-necked jumpers.
And,according to Dulux colour and design manager Rebecca Thompson,it's also LED lighting.
"[LED lighting],although sometimes it can appear stark,has a massive impact.It depends what kind of look you're trying to go for.If you want something a little more minimalist,and have furniture to make the space look cooler,LED can work."
And as the expert notes,LED lighting-such as LED bathroom lights or LED tape-provides the perfect solution to lighting up anything from bathroom tiles to kitchen work surfaces."It works really nicely with shelving and in kitchens."
However,as interior designer Jo Hamilton notes,LED lighting doesn't just have clinical applications-it can be used around the home to bring the warmth and intricate shades of your colour palette out.
"That's one of the things I often talk about,"she says."There are blue-based lights and yellow-based lights-LEDs for the most part give us a blue-based light.
"Natural light is blue-based,and halogen lighting,as with the spotlights you can get,is actually blue-based as well-it's much more akin to natural daylight,meaning the colour rendering is much better."
And Ms Thompson is partial to a spot of colour rendering,too.The Dulux expert noted that lighting can have an overwhelming impact on the way your room appears once you've painted it.

"Colour under daylight looks completely different to when it's under a synthetic light,"she says."It has a massive impact."Be sure to carefully consider what lighting sources will be at play in your room and when before you get painting.
