Celebrations Erupt Across The Globe Welcome in The New Year

Celebrations erupt across the globe as one by one major cities and capitals welcome in the New Year. As the Great Clock of Westminster edges ever closer to midnight the anticipation and expectations of the Mayor of London's New Year's Eve Firework Display grips the awaiting crowd, as quarter of a million revellers line the Thames and her bridges. The amazing eleven minute display of pyrotechnics and lighting brought to an end a historic year for the UK events industry in 2012.

With over a decade of experience in supplying this event, Stage Electrics was again commissioned by the display producer, Jack Morton Worldwide - the global brand experience agency, to supply all the production lighting and crew to help ensure this iconic event's success. Lighting designer Durham Marenghi provided a stunning and original design for the show utilising a myriad high output fixtures from manufactures including Vari*lite, Clay Paky and Martin.

"New Year's eve was another busy night for Stage Electrics in London as we were also supplying technical solutions to other areas that evening including the latest Martin MAC Vipers which were used by the BBC Outside Broadcast situated in the Ministry of Defence Gardens. We are proud to have supplied this iconic event for over a decade now and look forward to continuing our close relationship with Durham Marenghi and Jack Morton" commented Gordon Wells, Stage Electrics director (Live Events & Hire).

Inside each of the 32 pods on the EDF Energy London Eye was a Clay Paky Shotlight Wash unit controlled by Zero 88's CRMX ZeroWire wireless technology. The remaining effects came from the use of Clay Paky Sharpy's on pontoons in front of the London Eye and a number of 4KW Falcon searchlights positioned behind The Eye. Associate designer Paul Cook once again used Clay Paky Alpha Beam 700s to produce the digital countdown effect projected onto the Shell building which has become synonymous with the event.
