In hopes of redesigning the future of the infamous Route 66, the designers Daan Roosegaarde and Heijmans Infrastructure are working towards developing new designs and technologies that include the ‘Glow-in-the-Dark Road’, ‘Dynamic Paint’, ‘Interactive Light’, ‘Induction Priority Lane’ and ‘Wind Light’. In 2012 this project was awarded with the Best Future Concept by the Dutch Design Awards.
