Electricity It's what's for dinner.Inventors David Toledo and Paul Slusser of Salt Lake City have made generating electricity as simple as making a meal with the Power Pot,a portable cooking pot that produces 5 watts from heat without any moving parts.Unlike solar based generating devices, the PowerPot will work day or night and with a minimal amount of heat. The electricity produced can charge small devices and even power small speakers for those who are out camping but still can enjoy some small gizmo pleasures.

Some of the features include:

Versatility–Works with various heat sources and fuels Reliability–Simple design;no moving parts that can fail Portability–Lightweight(8 oz)and compact(5″x6″)Durability–Built to last Simplicity–Easy to use, like making a cup of tea On Demand–Generates power when you want it within seconds Co-generation–Makes hot water while generating electricity Silence–Power generation is completely silentPowerPot – Generating Electricity While you Cook_1

The Powerpot uses thermoelectric technology attached to the base that makes it a 5W generator. This model holds 1.5 quart(1.4 l)and is lightweight, made from hard anodized aluminum, weighing in at only 12oz.With no moving parts,it will withstand miles of trekking, wherever you decide to take it.The PowerPot V is a simple, yet versatile and highly portable power solution, which will allow you to power 2-3 USB devices at a time. The regulator cord on both models has a high-temperature connector which plugs into the backside of the PowerPot,and three feet of flame-resistant cabling leading to the USB plug. This allows it to be used with open fires or stoves without harm. What was really impressive is when they used the PowerPot over a hot spring with a little snow inside the pot to generate their LED light. As long as the contents of the pot are slightly coolr than the heat source, the Powerpot will produce 5 watts, otherwise boiling water, for example, will generate a continual 3 watts.

The applications are diverse for this product.Using the PowerPot as an essential camping item is great, but David and Paul are thinking out of the box.In most developing nations, electricity is scarce, but people do cook and use small devices. The Power pot will allow them to keep their devices charged without travelinglong distances for a generating source. In addition, they see the PowerPot as a must for any home emergency preparedness kit.You can even generate a charge with nothing more than a sterno can or candle.
