This week, the lighting industry tried to answer this question as they gathered to admire a global photography project based on the creative use of light.
Lighting designers from around the world were put to the test to see what they could produce using a single source of light.
The One Beam of Light exhibition at London’s Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) presented the results of designers’ innovative ideas.
From the 380 images submitted by entrants, the exhibition features 31 photographs. The work was curated by a panel of industry figures including Keith Bradshaw of Speirs & Major and Gerd Pfarre of Pfarré Lighting Design.
Launched last October, the idea for the One Beam of Light project was conceived by the Light Collective and was set up in collaboration with Concord, Havells-Sylvania’s architectural lighting brand.Concord donated its LED Beacon projectors to aid the creation of some of the images.
The exhibition opened to the public from Tuesday 16 April until Saturday 20 April.
