Mazda Has Announced a Boost in Towing Performance Across Its Mazda BT-50 4×2 and 4×4

Mazda BT-50 Towing Capacity Boosted

Mazda has announced a boost in towing performance across its Mazda BT-50 4×2 and 4×4 ute range to equal the pulling power of best in vehicles its class.

The 150kg increase in the braked towing capacity of Mazda BT-50 4×2 Hi-Rider and 4×4 models takes the utes from 3350kg to 3500kg. A result of chassis-strengthening measures, the increase comes into effect on all selected Mazda BT-50 utes produced from January and puts the Mazda on par with the Ford Ranger and Holden Colorado (3500kg), and ahead of the Mitsubishi Triton (3000kg), Nissan Navara (3000kg), Volkswagen Amarok (3000kg) and Toyota HiLux (2500kg).

Adding to the extra towing flexibility, the 4×2 Hi-Rider and 4×4 BT-50s’ Gross Combined Mass (GCM) has also been upped 50kg to 6000kg and maximum towball download raised by 15kg to 350kg.

Mazda says the upgrade comes at no additional cost, with pricing remaining unchanged across the BT-50 range. The upgrade follows a similar enhancement to the BT-50′s sister car, the Ranger, announced in December.

The Mazda BT-50 range starts with the 110kW/375Nm 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel 4×2 Single Cab Chassis XT at $25,570.
