More and more people want some energy saving measures, reduce the cost

With energy bills continuing to rise throughout the UK, people are increasingly looking to make some energy saving measures that decrease the amount they spend every month.

There are a plethora of different things that people can do to save energy and money in the long run, but it is important that they don't just jump straight into home improvements.

Individuals should research which of these options are best for their homes as some may not be suited to including the likes of wall cavity of loft insulation because they live in a block of flats.

Indeed, managing director of BSolar and Energy Foundation Peter Bladen said people will be hearing lots about energy saving measures and it is important that people get what is right for them.

He added: "I would advise people to think seriously about this in the long term and for the future. Everybody should insulate their home as much as possible."

People could be more interested in making energy saving improvements in their homes in the coming weeks and months with the announcement of the government's Green Deal.

This was launched last month and is a loan system that enables homeowners and landlords to have specific energy improvements carried out to make the house cheaper to run.

The money spent on the improvements will then be paid back on the energy bills in the future.

Of course, there are cheaper energy saving options that can be taken, which wouldn't necessarily need a loan taken out.

Installing energy efficient ceiling light fittings could be a good way of saving money on your bill.

This is because LED lighting uses less energy than traditional incandescents, which will help to save money on monthly bills.

Mr Bladen also suggested that solar panels, where possible, are a good option for homeowners in their bid to save money.

"Solar panels are a good investment at the moment. They last [rates on the Feed-In-Tariff] until April at the present rate and it's worth 45 pence per unit," he continued.
