This porcelain spine floor lamp design by the DFC design studio made a recent emergence into the lighting world with a few oohs, ahhs and serious head turns. Said to resemble a spine as large as a small to mid-sized dinosaur, DFC’s newest addition drew some attention.

DFC’s Castigliosaurus floor lamp was created by the designers Mauricio Paniagua and Tony Moxham in 2013. The lamp was made in Mexico using a hand-cast ceramic vertebrae, it has a base and shade hand-carved from locally sourced volcanic rock and a metal inner spine. The Castigliosaurus floor lamp made its spotlight at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair’s 25th-anniversary show and Design Week in New York City.
