From the designer that helped so many other designers get their start in the design industry, this Italian entrepreneur Giulio Cappellini’s unique use of color, handblown glass and unusual placement of the light bulb within the pendant light’s shade creates a whole new feel to glass circle pendant lights.

Giulio Cappellini’s staggered cluster of rainbow glass pendant lights is entitled Meltdown, a piece that is devoted to the nuclear plant disaster in Fukushima, Japan. Meltdown comes in six colors, and uses a design that has the light bulb placed into the glass of the fixture rather than suspended within the fixture. Almost as if the glass melted and the light bulb was swallowed up whole.
