Lighting designers from all over have taken their turn at recreating the design elements of Russia’s first satellite “Sputnik”. Each light fixture, although using similar design components, has added their own special artist’s twist that incorporates the mid-century & retro-modern space-age style that Sputnik is known for.
As you scroll through these Sputnik inspired designs, you may notice that the basic components are the same. There are many arms extending from the orb in the center. Light bulbs are attached to the ends of each or just some of the fixture’s extended components. And each light sculpture shimmers with a high gloss finish. Even though all of these qualities are the same, each one still manages to be different from the other. The excitement of this large variety of Sputnik like designs may just send you to the moon!
