While staring at the Garden of Light installation you may begin to wonder if you have in fact landed on another planet. Surely flowers do not glow like this on earth. But they do when they are part of?Joana Vasconcelo's art-light installation?Garden of Eden (Labyrinth)?or Jardim do éden (Labirinto).

The glowing field of flowers are made from: compact fluorescent light bulbs,?plastic flowers, synchronous micro-motors, transparent polychrome acrylic discs and a low-tech electric system. The artificial flowers emerge from cylinders that are coated in black Lycra. Inside the black Lycra cylinders there are lights, motors and rotating disc that activate the lights and give them a similar appearance to glowing and flickering display of optical fibre lighting.
