As competition in the high-end notebook market is expected to start heating up, Asustek Computer has been increasing its orders for high-end notebook models, benefiting its component suppliers and manufacturers such as AU Optronics (AUO), Innolux, Quanta Computer and Pegatron Technology, according to market watchers. However, these upstream players declined to comment on their orders or clients.
To expand its high-end notebook market share, Asustek has been pushing new models to attract consumers and enhance its profitability. The company has also been cooperating with virtual reality (VR) device makers to explore new business opportunities, the sources noted.
Asustek has partnered with AUO and Innolux to design special panels for its high-end notebooks. AUO is currently supplying a 17-inch Ultra HD panel to Asustek for notebook models that target the gaming and multimedia entertainment segments, the sources pointed out.
Pegatron and Quanta have adopted the panel in more than three of the upcoming high-end notebooks from Asustek.
