AHMSA Has Announced That in 2012 It Produced 3.88 Million Mt of Crude Steel

Mexico-based steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) has announced that in 2012 it produced 3.88 million mt of crude steel, rising by 1.9 percent compared to the previous year, reaching the highest annual production level ever achieved by the company.

In the given year, AHMSA's finished steel output amounted to 3.28 million mt to be supplied to various customers in and outside the country. Blast furnace No. 6 with a designed annual capacity of 1.5 million mt produced 1.6 million mt of pig iron during 2012.

Luis Zamudio Miechielsen, director general of AHMSA, said that, despite the significant drop in international steel prices in 2012, AHMSA maintained operating levels which allowed the company to keep its workforce.

AHMSA is focused on the manufacturing of hot rolled and cold rolled coils and sheets, beams and tinplate for the construction, automotive, white goods and oil industries.
