British automaker Jaguar Land Rover has launched an 'Innovation Incubator' project in Portland, Oregon to support US based technology start-ups in the development of future infotainment technologies.
The automaker is planning to encourage, promote and support new software-based automotive technology makers to help in materialize their ideas.
The company also highlighted that it will be developing an 'Innovation Incubator' centre in Portland to accommodate these technology start-ups, and it has already hired 50 engineers to work directly with these start-ups.
Jaguar said that the project will kick-off this May and will eventually select 120 start-up companies, which will work with the British auto giant over the next decade.
Jaguar Land Rover head of Future Infotainment Matt Jones said: "This incubator approach will enable us to seek out and encourage young companies with brilliant ideas for new technologies who may lack the technical skills or knowledge of the automotive industry to move their ideas forward.
"As well as mentoring them and offering them technical support, they can base themselves with us and develop and test their ideas in our brand new, collaborative and innovative environment in Portland."
