Mondelez Canada has issued a recall of certain packages of Mr. Christie’s Arrowroot Biscuits cookies distributed across the country.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has confirmed that the product was recalled by the company for being off-taste.
It has advised consumers to contact a doctor should they fall sick after eating the cookies.
However, there has been no specific information released about the kind of sickness suspected to be caused by the consumption of by the arrowroot biscuits, along with its symptoms, by the agency.
CFIA has also asked customers to throw away the product or return them to the place of purchase.
Batches that have been recalled are 350gm boxes with product code UPC 066721 01046 9, 1.4kg boxes with product code UPC 0 66721 01856 4, 3.5-kg bulk boxes with product code UPC 1 00 66721 51038 6 and 3.6kg 2-pack boxes with product code UPC 1 00 66721 51404 9.
The food inspection agency has been issuing several food recall warnings in the recent times. On the same day when it brought to notice about the Mondelez Canada arrowroot biscuit products, three other companies – Ha Noi, Soylent and Imperial Caviar & Seafood have come under its scanner.
Mr. Christie’s brand, owned by Mondalez Canada, had faced trouble from CFIA in the past as well. In March, its Social Tea Biscuits product was issued a Class 3 hazard classification, and was recalled in five Canadian provinces for containing metal pieces.
