Hopworks Urban Brewery based in the US has unveiled three rotating summer seasonal beers called Pig War White IPA, Ace of Spades Imperial IPA, and IPX Single Hop Ale: Simcoe.
Made from hard red spring wheat grown on the brewery's estate farm on San Juan Island, Pig War White IPA is described as a signature wheat beer haze with an IBU of 60 and ABV of 6%.
It is named in commemoration of the confrontation between Americans and Brits over San Juan Island in 1859.
With a medium body and a tart flavor, the beer also features organic Northwest hops that lend fruity, citrus-like flavor and crisp bitterness.
Organic Ace of Spades Imperial IPA features a blend of NW hops such as mash tun, first wort, kettle, hop back and dry hop.
The beer offers citrus hop aroma, flavor, and a deep, clean bitterness with an IBU of 100+ and ABV of 8.6%.
IPX Single Hop Ale: Simcoe is made from simcoe hops which, the brewery says, are both organic and Salmon-Safe certified from Yakima based sustainable hops producer Loftus Ranches.
Exuding aromas of citrus and pine, each beer in the series is light-bodied with a dry, malt character and contains the same base recipe with the same finishing hop schedule.
It has an IBU of 60 and ABV of 6%.
While Pig War is also available in four-packs of 16 oz. cans, all three beers are available in 22 oz. bottles, and on draft, throughout the Pacific Northwest.
