Sync 3 Replaced MS Auto's Operating System and Runs on QNX

Ford has introduced SYNC 3, a communications and entertainment system which is claimed to be more intuitive and easier to use than its predecessor.

Sync 3 replaced Microsoft Auto's operating system and runs on QNX and uses hardware from Texas Instruments.

The next generation infotainment system is developed upon the company's previous SYNC technology but now the car maker has given it a smartphone like feel with touch screen and easy-to-read graphics along with a conversational voice recognition technology.

SYNC 3 features bright background, large buttons and high-contrast fonts which is suitable for daytime use.

The system automatically switches to a dark background to help reduce eye fatigue and minimize reflections on the windows at night.

It can be integrated with Siri Eyes-Free control, and SYNC's "Push to Talk" steering wheel button facilitates drivers to seek Siri's help while driving.

Ford chief technical officer Raj Nair said: "Ford is delivering an easier way for customers to stay connected.

"SYNC 3 is another step forward in delivering connectivity features customers most want, and they tell us this kind of technology is an important part of their decision to buy our vehicles."
