Chain Safeway Has Recalled Select French Salted Caramel Premium Ice Cream

American supermarket chain Safeway has recalled Select French Salted Caramel (Fleur De Sel) Premium Ice Cream over an undeclared peanut allergen, US Food and Drug Administration said.

The recalled product had been sold nationwide in all Safeway, Carrs, Genuardi's, Pak 'N Save, Pavilions, Randalls, Tom Thumb and Vons stores between 4 November and 5 December 2014.

FDA said that the recipe's caramel cups ingredient was replaced with peanut butter cups because of a supply error.

The UPC Code of the product is 21130 08970 and it is located on the side panel. The products carry a best-before date of 03 November 2015.

Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction to people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts, FDA warned. However, no allergic reactions or illnesses have been reported yet.

Customers who have bought the recalled product are advised to discard it or return the product to Safeway's local store for a full refund.
