Prime Food USA Is Recalling Latis Brand Herring Fillet 'matiej'

Prime Food USA is recalling Latis brand Herring Fillet 'Matiej', Salmon Fillet Slices and Herring Fillet 'Forelka' in oil due to listeria monocytogenes contamination, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The products being recalled are - Latis brand Herring Fillet 'Matiej', packaged in 17.64oz. (500g) in plastic containers and bears a partial code of 01.14 and UPC 7541004076916.

Salmon Fillet Slices packaged in 7.5oz plastic container and features a code 15.07.13(17JL), and Herring Fillet 'Forelka' in oil 11.64oz. (330g) is packaged in plastic oval type containers.

The 11.64oz. (330g) container bears a code 07.01.14(09JR). These products were manufactured in Latvia and sold in New York state.

The recall was initiated after a routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by food laboratory personnel found the product to be positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with this recall. Consumers who have purchased these Latis brand products are advised not to consume and instead return them to the place of purchase.

Consumption of products containing Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially fatal disease that results in high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea
