Hain Celestial, a US-based natural and organic food manufacturer, has reported that its net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2013 increased by 57.8% to $31.6m, compared to $20m for the same period in 2012.
The company stated that the rise in net income was due to 24.8% growth in revenues for the quarter ended 31 December 2012.
Global net sales for the quarter were $455.3m, compared to $364.8m in the corresponding period of 2012, driven by contributions from various sales channels led by Celestial Seasonings, Earth's Best, Garden of Eatin, Imagine, MaraNatha, The Greek Gods, Alba Botanica, Lima, Danival and Linda McCartney.
Hain Celestial founder, president and chief executive officer Irwin Simon said the brands acquired during the quarter, including Hartley's jam and Sun-Pat peanut butter, have also contributed to the company's results.
For the six months ended 31 December 2012, Hain Celestial reported revenues of $815.12m, compared to $651.67m in 2012, while it reported a net income of $48m, compared to $31.7m in the same period last year.
