Passive Component Supplier Nichidenbo Will See Its Revenues More Than Double in 2013

Passive component supplier Nichidenbo, which distributes capacitor and resistor parts for vendors including Nippon Chemi-Con, will see its revenues more than double in 2013 after the company took up the management of component channel operator Lipers Enterprise, according to the company.

Nichidenbo is expected to post revenues of NT$6-7 billion (US$200.88-234.36) in 2013 compared to NT$2.5 billion on average in the past few years, estimated the company.

Lipers posted revenues of NT$4.7 billion in 2012, but net profits totaled only NT$11 million in the year.

Nichidenbo, which now holds a 51.93% stake in Lipers, will help the channel operator improve its financial structure as well as profit margins, said Freddy Chou, vice chairman and COO of Nichidenbo, who will take up the chairman post at Lipers in 2014.

Lipers distributes a variety of parts and components from Semco, Kemet, Kyocera, EPCOS, Vishay, Rubycon and Samsung Electro-Mechanics, with MLCC devices from Semco accounting for 60-70% of the company's total sales.

Nichidenbo will also help Lipers consolidate its product lines and aim to reduce its operating overhead by at least 10% in 2014, Chou said.

For Nichidenbo, it will step up sales of LED products, including LED chips and LED backlit bars from Samsung and other LED devices from Taiwan-based Everlight. Nichidenbo will also begin distributing rectifier diodes from Lite-On Semiconductor, Chou revealed.
