Mescier Steel Industry and Trade LC started trial production at a new 200,000 tonnes per year beam mill in the middle of November.It is currently making 60mm to 120 mm equal angle;production of UPN channel,IPN and IPE beams is to start in Q1 2013.
Mescier Steel currently operates a 350,000 tonnes per year longs rolling mill in Bartin.The company source said that the two mills are altogether capable of making about 350,000 tonne of finished products;Mescier Steel plans to scale up their capacity to 400,000 tonnes per year by the end of the year.The rebar mill of the plant in Karabuk is still idle,but it may be put back into operation if demand picks up next year.
Besides,Mescier Steel plans to start construction of its own steelmaking complex in 2013,Metal Expert learns.It has already obtained all the necessary documents and is arranging power and natural gas supplies.Construction of the plant is expected to take about three years.
