Sun Chemical has introduced new black pearlescent pigment, which can be used in multiple plastics applications.
The pigment can be integrated into different plastics applications, including rigid or flexible packaging with little reduction in the desired effect.
Designed to work on different polymers, the new black pearl pigment offers the required thermal stability needed for plastics applications.
According to the company, the new black pearlescent pigment provides better luster, sparkle and jetness compared against commercially available black pearlescent pigments.
The new pigment has been exhibited at the 54th Annual Society of Plastics Engineers Color and Appearance Division’s CAD RETEC technical conference.
Sun Chemical performance pigments unit effects pigments research leader Jonathan Doll said: “Black is one of the most popular colors in consumer products because it imparts a sense of quality and refinement.
“Despite this inherent demand, there are currently no truly black pearlescent pigments available on the market that show the sparkle that pearlescent pigments are known for. At Sun Chemical, we’re excited to introduce a new black pearl pigment that solves these challenges.”
Earlier this month, Sun Chemical announced that It will launch new environmentally friendly ink for pad printing at the K 2016 event in Germany.
The event will take place from 19 to 26 October in Düsseldorf.
Part of the SunPad range of inks, the new ink can be applied to multiple substrates such as hard PVC, acrylic, polystyrene, duroplastics, polyester, thermoplastics, metals and varnished surfaces.
Sun Chemical produces printing inks, coatings and supplies, pigments, polymers, liquid compounds, solid compounds, and application materials.
