Manufacturing company SRF is all set to begin production of biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films in India.
The production will be done at their new facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh state.
SRF for this will be employing a new 8.7m wide Bruckner line. This equipment from the German manufacturer has a production capacity of 6,350 kg per hour.
The Bruckner line is said to have latest features such as a 5-layer technology with twin screw extrusion in the intermediate layers and a newly designed sliding system that will drastically reduce lubrication usage.
It will also have direct flake processing and a transverse direction orientation heat recovery system.
For its BOPP film market entry several years ago, SRF partnered with Brückner and is running a production line at their subsidiary in Durban, South Africa.
SRF global operation & business excellence senior vice president Hari K Singh said: “The great success of our joint South Africa project made it obvious for us to cooperate with Brückner once again.
“We especially remembered the smooth commissioning and start-up phase we had back then. And of course there is the fact that the line has been producing reliably and on a constantly high quality level ever since.”
SRF’s Indian division provides packaging solutions for a wide range of applications which includes fast moving consumer goods and also industrial products.
With two plants in India, SRF also manufactures specialty bi-axially oriented polyethylene terephthalate films.
Apart from India and South Africa, SRF also has a manufacturing facility in Thailand. It currently exports packaging films to more than 60 countries.
