Hovis Bakery plans to shut its production facility in Leicester, UK, by 2015.
The move could result in the loss of 200 jobs at the facility.
Members of the Bakers and Food and Allied Workers Union (BFAWU) will meet with company officials at the bakery in Troon Way, Leicester, to discuss about the matter.
BFAWU regional organizer George Atwal was quoted by BBC as saying that he will try to secure the best deal for staff.
The company said that the facility is being closed for simplification and transformation of its bread manufacturing operations.
Hovis Bakery spokesman was quoted by the publication as saying, "The proposal is part of the simplification and transformation of the company's bread manufacturing operations, which aims to improve efficiency, quality and customer service."
